What is social sustainability?
Definition of social sustainability : Social sustainability is the ability of a community to develop processes and structures which not only meets the needs of its current members but also support the ability of future generations to maintain a healthy community. Social sustainability is the ability of a social system, such as a country, to function at a defined level of social well being indefinitely. That level should be defined in relation to the goal of Homo sapiens, which is (or should be) to optimize quality of life for those living and their descendants. |
Why do we have social sustainability?
We have social sustainability in order to provide equality to every part of the world . Whilst also providing good quality of life within communities, particularly groups who are less fortunate. The basic notion of sustainability is taking responsibility for the fact that our actions have an impact on the community, including the world at large, and also taking future generations into account. Social sustainability considers the entire world in relation to globalization, communities and culture. We need social sustainability to achieve all our goals in life and provide equal living to all so that everyone can have a chance at living their dream without having the boundaries of education or resources like food for their families.
